What is The Neubie by NeuFit?

Neubie therapy is a non-invasive treatment that uses targeted direct-current (DC) electrical stimulation to support rehabilitation, reduce pain, and improve physical performance. The electrical stimulation activates the nervous system and affected tissues, helping the body improve muscle function, promote recovery, and rebuild strength. By identifying and targeting areas of dysfunction, Neubie therapy may help accelerate healing, improve mobility, and enhance overall physical conditioning. The Neubie is an FDA-cleared device and is offered from the comfort of our office at Release Physical Therapy.

How does Neubie therapy work?

The Neubie works by delivering controlled direct-current electrical stimulation through electrodes placed on targeted areas of the body. A physical therapist adjusts the stimulation while guiding the patient through movements and exercises based on their individual needs and treatment goals. This combination of electrical stimulation and active movement helps engage the nervous system, improve communication between the brain and muscles, and retrain more efficient movement patterns. Over time, treatment may help reduce pain, improve mobility, increase muscle activation, and support the body’s recovery process.

What are the benefits of Neubie treatment?

The Neubie is a next-generation electrical stimulation device that works directly with your nervous system to reduce pain, restore movement, and speed recovery. Unlike traditional e-stim, it lets you move and exercise during treatment. Here are some of the benefits the Neubie provides:

Targets the Nervous System:
Works directly with the nerves that control movement and healing, not just the muscles, addressing dysfunction at its source.

Active, Not Passive:
Its direct current lets you perform movements and exercises while being stimulated, creating lasting change in how nerves and muscles work together.

Breaks Through Plateaus:
Helps switch off the protective inhibition that lingers after an injury heals — a common reason recovery stalls.

Reduces Pain:
Many patients report noticeable pain relief, often within the first session.

Builds Strength, Prevents Atrophy:
Precise, repeated muscle activation strengthens tissue and counters the muscle loss that follows injury or surgery.

Improves Mobility:
Releases the neurological brakes limiting your range of motion and function.

Boosts Circulation:
Improves blood flow, delivering oxygen and nutrients for faster healing.

Non-Invasive and Drug-Free:
An FDA-cleared, conservative option often worth trying before injections or surgery.

Supports Rehab and Performance:
Used across the full continuum, from post-surgical recovery to chronic pain to athletic performance.

What conditions respond well to Neubie therapy?

  • Back pain, sciatica, and disc-related pain
  • Neuropathy, nerve irritation, and radiculopathy
  • Muscle strains and joint sprains
  • Tendinopathies
  • Rotator cuff dysfunction and shoulder impingement
  • Frozen shoulder / adhesive capsulitis
  • Post-surgical and post-injury recovery, including joint replacement
  • Movement dysfunction, muscle imbalance, and postural disorders
  • Chronic pain unresolved by other methods
  • Neurological conditions (post-stroke, MS, Parkinson’s) for symptom management
  • Athletic performance, conditioning, and recovery

*While not indicated to treat neurological diseases, the NeuFit System has helped some people with these conditions improve function and quality of life. Results are not guaranteed.*

Is Neubie treatment safe for everyone?

The Neubie is FDA-cleared and very safe under a trained practitioner, but not suitable for everyone. It should **not** be used by people who are pregnant or who have a cardiac pacemaker or other implantable cardiac device. Use caution — with physician clearance — in cases of active or recent cancer, blood clots, seizure or heart conditions, severe vascular disease, open wounds in the treatment area, or impaired sensation. Anyone considering treatment should be evaluated by a qualified professional first.

Neubie Therapy FAQs

How long is a Neubie treatment session?

The Neubie portion of your visit generally runs 20-30 minutes of your 55 minute treatment

What does Neubie treatment feel like?

You’ll feel a tingling or buzzing where the pads are placed. Some spots may feel unusually sensitive — these “hotspots” point to where your nerves and muscles aren’t communicating well. As those areas calm down through the session, most people notice less pain and easier movement.

What should I expect after Neubie treatment?

Because a session can challenge your muscles more than a standard workout, hydrate well, eat nutrient-rich food, ease off other intense training for 24–48 hours, and follow your home exercises. Consistency with your program and visits is what turns a good session into lasting results.

What are the side effects of Neubie therapy?

Neubie therapy is well tolerated. Is it painful? No — intensity is governed by you and your therapist, and you’ll never be asked to tolerate pain. Most people feel a strong but manageable tingling. Any after-effects are mild and temporary:

    • Muscle Soreness:
Similar to the day after a hard workout, a normal sign your tissue is being activated.
    • Fatigue:
A thorough session works the neuromuscular system hard, so some tiredness is common.
    • Mild Skin Sensitivity
Temporary redness where the pads were placed; the Neubie’s waveform is designed to deliver direct current without the skin burns of older DC devices.

Communicate with your therapist about anything you feel. Intensity, pad placement, and your plan can be adjusted to keep you comfortable.

Patients should consult their healthcare provider if they have any potential side effects.

How long do the results of Neubie therapy last?

Because the Neubie creates change at the nervous-system level, results carry over into how you move and can be durable. Acute conditions often hold once healed; chronic issues can see sustained relief. Lasting results come from pairing treatment with ongoing activity and good mechanics, plus follow-up as needed.

How long does it take to feel results from Neubie treatment?

Many patients report change after one session, with significant improvement commonly seen within 1–4 visits. Each person responds differently, depending on the condition and adherence to the plan.

How often should I get Neubie therapy?

Frequency is tailored to you, often starting at 1–2 sessions per week and tapering as you improve. Chronic conditions may need a longer course followed by maintenance visits. We encourage you to stay active throughout your care.
