Injury, Prevention & Wellness

Treatments & Conditions

We help people with neck pain, shoulder pain, back and hip pain, knee pain, foot and ankle pain, and other common conditions.

As an outpatient orthopedic physical therapy practice, we focus on the neuro-muscular skeletal system. Musculoskeletal and sports-related injuries include: bones, muscles with their related tendons, joint structures such as ligaments, discs and menisci. Injuries may cause impairments such as pain, inflammation, restricted movement, joint instability and muscle weakness or spasms. Treatments we specialize in at Release Physical Therapy include:

Manual Physical Therapy

Release Physical Therapy provides manual therapy to all of its clients. Your therapist will spend one on one time with you performing hands-on techniques. These techniques include deep tissue massage, stretching, instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization, joint mobilization and dry needling to help improve mobility, reduce pain, and restore function, allowing you to better achieve your goals. Manual physical therapy can be used to treat any musculoskeletal area of the body including the back and neck, jaw, shoulders, hips, knees, ankles and pelvic floor, and more.

Orthopedic Physical Therapy

Release Physical Therapy provides orthopedic physical therapy. At your initial evaluation, we take our time to learn your physical concerns and your functional goals. Our therapists will assess your strength, mobility, flexibility and movement patterns to determine what is contributing to your pain and limitations. We can treat, but are not limited to, patients recovering from orthopedic surgeries and joint replacements, fractures, and sports related injuries . Orthopedic physical therapists use a variety of manual therapy techniques, corrective exercises, and modalities, including dry needling, to improve mobility, reduce pain, and restore function in the affected area. The goal of orthopedic physical therapy at Release Physical Therapy is to help patients regain strength and function and deliver individualized care to get you back to your goals.

Performance Physical Therapy

Release physical therapy provides sports performance physical therapy. This specialized area of physical therapy focuses on improving your athletic performance and preventing sports-related injuries. Performance physical therapists at Release Physical Therapy will meet you where you are, to help you enhance your physical abilities, optimize your movement patterns, and prevent injuries. We can collaborate with coaches and personal trainers to help develop customized training programs that address your personal performance goals. Performance physical therapy will include manual therapy techniques, biomechanical/running analysis and individualized exercises designed to help you meet your goals and stay healthy during training.

Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy

Release Physical Therapy provides comprehensive care for both women and men with pelvic floor issues. We do a thorough evaluation of the pelvis, pelvic floor muscles and surrounding tissue and determine a plan of care to normalize any dysfunction in these areas. Similar to any other orthopedic injury, your physical therapist will assess the muscle strength, joint mobility, coordination and function to see how it contributes to your symptoms. Our specialists can treat symptoms of incontinence, pelvic pain or prolapse, diastasis rectus abdominus, pregnancy and postpartum rehabilitation, painful intercourse constipation, and more.

Prenatal Physical Therapy

Release Physical Therapy will treat patients for prenatal rehabilitation. You can expect during your prenatal physical therapy appointments a thorough evaluation to determine any pain or goals specific to you during your pregnancy. Your therapist can help address any hip, pelvis,  back or sciatica symptoms you may experience during pregnancy. Your therapist will then help to educate you on how to prepare your pelvic floor for birth, including perineal massage, hip and rib-cage mobility to open the hips to prepare for labor and delivery, pelvic floor relaxation exercises, pushing and breathing strategies, and help to answer questions you may have about what to expect postpartum.

Postpartum Physical Therapy

Release Physical Therapy provides comprehensive care for women at any stage postpartum. You can expect during your postpartum physical therapy appointments a thorough evaluation to determine any dysfunction from pregnancy or birth. You will discuss your goals with your provider and they will create an individualized pelvic floor and core plan to return you to your goals.

How do I choose the right physical therapist in Tysons, VA?

Choosing a physical therapist depends on their qualifications, experience, location, and availability. To help you find the right physical therapist in Tysons, VA and near Vienna, VA, consider these suggestions:

Seek Medical Recommendations: Reach out to your primary care doctor, orthopedist, or other healthcare specialists and ask for their recommendations. These professionals frequently have the knowledge and network to recommend qualified physical therapists.

Explore Online Platforms and Review Sites: Leverage the power of the internet by using search engines like specialized healthcare websites such as Healthgrades or Zocdoc. These resources offer user reviews and ratings, which can help assess the quality of care and levels of patient satisfaction.

Ask Professional Associations: To find a qualified physical therapist, including specialists, consider accessing the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) website. It features a searchable database of licensed physical therapists. The state of Virginia licensing board provides comprehensive lists of licensed and qualified physical therapists.

Inquire at Local Medical Facilities: Reach out to nearby Virginia hospitals and rehabilitation clinics. Even if they don’t directly provide the physical therapy services you’re seeking, they could recommend reliable therapists or facilities.

Personal Recommendations: Talk to your friends, family members, or colleagues who have undergone physical therapy, especially those with similar health issues. Their experiences can guide you so you make an informed choice.

Arrange a Preliminary Meeting: Once you’ve identified a potential physical therapist, set up an initial consultation. This meeting provides an opportunity to discuss your specific needs and goals while assessing your comfort level with the therapist and ensuring the therapist aligns well with your needs and preferences.
